Together with Lisa Boersen, Jort van der Jagt worked on Land of Mislaid, a children’s book published by Gottmer Uitgevers Groep b.v.
Jort van der Jagt made the very rich illustrations of this adventurous story and thanks to our Babel project we made this children’s book available as an app on App Store.
The app is an interactive children’s book as well as an audiobook. The narrator brings the story to life and children can play with the app themselves, there is enough to discover. The charming music enriches the feeling of the story and makes it more immersive.
To make the proper translation to the digital tablet medium we enriched the book with beautiful animations, illustrations and many possible interactions.
Land of Mislaid will primairilly be promoted digitally. That’s why we’ve created a website and press kit for the app. The simple one-page website (appsite) explains the core functionality of the app and presents a trailer of the app as well.
Little Hannah and her grandpa are sitting in the living room. Hannah can’t find her peppermint anywhere! It was on the table just a moment ago, and she would really like one. Grandpa suggests it may have rolled off to the Land of Mislaid, for that’s where things go when they’re lost. Mislaid is a land far away. Beyond the Seven Seas, near the cost of South America. Perhaps Hannah and her grandpa can still catch the peppermint before it has disappeared forever, but they will have to be fast! Grandpa picks up his cane and they start rowing through the living room in pursuit of the peppermint. On their way they ask everyone if they’ve seen it: the teapot, the salt and pepper and even the little vase. Not everyone has useful information, but it becomes a fascinating experience.
